Support Vanessa, our passionate Chair
A note from Eleanor Schaffner-Mosh, former Guilford Go Red For Women Chair
Quick—what’s your favorite story about Vanessa Carroll?
Let me share my favorite Vanessa story:
Vanessa and I have been friends for 15 years—ever since our daughters were Munchkins in The Wizard of Oz. Over the years, we’ve sat through countless CTG performances, walked in the rain to cure diabetes, laughed about our opposing political views, and supported each other through more charity events than either of us can remember.
When Vanessa says she’ll do something, she throws herself in—passionately and wholeheartedly!
In 2012, when I served as the inaugural chair for the Guilford Go Red For Women campaign, Vanessa supported me on so many levels. And last summer, when I asked her to serve as the 2016 Guilford Go Red For Women Chair for the all-important fifth-anniversary year, Vanessa jumped in with both feet!
That’s the kind of woman—the kind of friend—Vanessa is. She puts her passion to work for causes she believes in.
Vanessa recognizes the power we have as women to band together to fight heart disease and stroke, which are still the #1 killers of American women, killing one in three of us and resulting in a death every single minute of every single day.
Most importantly, Vanessa understands that heart disease and stroke are preventable 80% of the time! As the mother of three daughters and the caregiver to her mother-in-law, a longtime stroke survivor, Vanessa knows that when women learn to take care of their own heart-health, they’ll be better able to take care of their loved ones.
Here’s my challenge to you:
Let’s support Vanessa the way she is supporting all the women of Guilford County:
· Mark your calendars to join Vanessa on Monday, May 9, as she chairs the 5th annual Guilford Go Red For Women Educational Expo and Luncheon at Koury Convention Center, and
· Please consider joining the Guilford Go Red For Women Chair’s Circle now.
Together, we can help Vanessa as she leads the fight against heart disease and stroke for women in our community.
Thanks for joining Vanessa and me!
From the heart,
Eleanor
